Explore the Zambezi... Experience the wide, winding river and the myriad of islands and channels above the Falls...
Victoria Falls River Safaris offers you an excellent, personalised and environmentally friendly upper river
safari experience
. The specifically designed propeller-free safari boats have the unique ability of crossing the numerous rapids along the upper
Zambezi River
comfortably. Due to the fact that there is no external propeller, these boats can operate in water as shallow as 20cm. As a result, the operational range is substantially greater than any other powerboat service, extending from as close as 200 metres from the Victoria Falls to beyond the upper river lodges.
THE SAFARI
You will be seated on cushioned seats, a bird book and map of the operational range showing the route you will be taking is available for your perusal. An experienced skipper will conduct your safari, and explain the river, the wildlife, the people and the history in a personalised and friendly manner. Four of the boats are fitted with a roof.
You will initially cruise upstream, where there is a chance of seeing white rhino, breeding herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffe and smaller antelope in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. After turning around Lwando Island, you will enter the secluded domain of our river safari boats. Here you will meander quietly around the islands immediately above the Victoria Falls, rich in bird life such as kingfishers, bee-eaters, open-billed storks, darters, herons and ibis. There is also a chance of seeing the extremely rare Pels Fishing Owl and African Finfoot.
Hippos are plentiful all year round and during the winter months specifically elephants are abound on these small islands. They are frequently encountered in the water while crossing from island to island.
Victoria Falls River Safaris emphasise personalised service and exclusivity coupled with adventure, unsurpassed
game viewing
and fantastic photographic opportunities.
